The area around Murphy Lake (mainly Dee, and Talcott on the western side) seems to have more than its share of sidewalk plant encroachment. On the one hand that surprises me, because rich folks pay landscape services, and would seem to be less likely to let things go. On the other hand, rich folks seem more likely to retreat into their own worlds, caring less about the world outside. I remember, when I was in high school, walking down Dee to Maine South, and all the houses on the west side had their circular drives plowed before I left in the morning. But only one house from Cherry to Touhy would ever clear the sidewalk.
