DESCRIPTION: Settle down, I'm not demanding that this tree be removed. But I'm curious about how this kind of thing happens--you see it all over town--and I'm hoping someone can email me the answer. I can only think of two possibilities. One: someone thought it was a good idea to plant a tree a couple of inches next to the sidewalk. Two: the tree was already there when the sidewalk was placed. But from its position it was clearly not much larger than a sapling back then. So didn't they realize that tree and sidewalk would be coming into conflict before too long? Wouldn't it have been a better idea to replace that tiny tree with another tiny tree, closer to the street?
