This photo, taken near Dee and Cherry, demonstrates particularly effectively how out of hand the encroachment problem has gotten. Note the fence line. Elsewhere I mention the Freedom of Spread doctrine, a guideline stating that bushes should be cut well back from the sidewalk, both to allow room to grow until the next trimming and to leave space for people to walk along the edge and swing their arms unimpeded. Well, that fence is a good visual marker for that: all the greenery hanging beyond that fence really should be cut away.
